Once we have established the proper core strength, balance, stability, and mobility needed for higher level training, we move into resistance training.  As an athlete progresses in fitness level as well as competition level, it becomes crucial to engage in resistance training to become stronger and help take impact loads off of the joints and bones.  The stronger an athlete becomes, the more prepared they are for the competition and the less likely they will incur an injury during performance.



Vertimax™ Resistance Training

It is very important that resistance training is done properly.  Correct form can only be achieved when an athlete has the proper training prior to adding resistance.  I take the time to determine which exercises will be most beneficial for the athlete and also progress them at the right pace to reach their goals.  Another important consideration is providing adequate recovery time to prevent burn out and injuries.  Overtraining is common in today's demanding competitive athletic environment and I work hard to keep my athletes safe at all times.

I do resistance training in a few ways.  First, I use a Vertimax™ to enhance athletic performance.  Vertimax™ is considered the industry standard for elite performance training so Hoops Mechanic is all about it!  I train sports specific movements to create explosiveness, stability, and injury prevention with the moves the athletes use on the court.  I also have received training in the sports conditioning methods taught by Twist™ Conditioning INC.  providing the very best in sport conditioning and strength training.
